Book Review : Kingdom of the Wicked

“Are you sure you’re of House Wrath? If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were general to a vacuous, shirtless battalion belonging to House Narcissism.”              - Kingdom of the Wicked

Kingdom of the Wicked is an enjoyable dark paranormal read mixed with an amazing murder mystery and slow-burn enemies to lovers to enemies trope.

SYNOPSIS
It is a story about a girl willing to do anything to avenge her twin's death.

Emilia was a streghe, witches living amongst humans. The day after her twin sister Vittoria missed dinner at their restaurant, she was found desecrated beyond belief. Heartbroken by her sudden and cruel death, Emilia set out to seek vengeance.

She used long forbidden dark magic to call upon help. That is when she met Wrath, one of the Wicked. He claims to be on Emelia's side, willing to help her but he was still one of the Wicked. They reluctantly start working together and face some truly unexpected turns and revelations.

REVIEW

The story was an almost perfect representation of a fantasy world, with the Wicked princes acting as the seven deadly sins, werewolves, witches and witch hunters. The characters were amazingly well written with Wrath's arrogance and unpredictability and Emelia's bravery and sass.

I had heard about the book a lot from bookstagram so, I was kinda scared to start reading because of high expectations and I didn’t want to be disappointed. Eventually when I started reading I had a little bit of a struggle to get into it, mostly the first 50-100 pages, after that I got really sucked into the story.

Over all, the plot was extremely gripping, but the story does change it's pace quite frequently which gets confusing. In a few places the story might get boring and then suddenly something would just happen without context.

All things considered, I quite enjoyed the book and am eagerly looking forward for the sequel.
